Virat Kohli or Steve Smith- Who is the Best Batsman in the World?

Former Australian leg-spinner Shane Warne who is one of the greatest bowlers in the history of cricket has an opinion that Virat Kohli is undoubtedly the number one batsman in the world. He told that Kohli has an edge over the other batsmen.

He rated Kohli as best batsman across all the three formats of the game. But he feels that Steve Smith is ahead when it comes to the longest format of the game. He also told that in his time, Brian Lara and Sachin Tendulkar were the two best batsmen.

Shane Warne started his cricketing career in 1990 and ended in 2013. He further added that in this 23 years span, he saw Jaques Kallis, Ricky Ponting, Graham Gooch, Kevin Pietersen, Kumar Sangakkara, and Rahul Dravid and they all were fantastic players.

He then emphasized on the two- Tendulkar and Lara who were much better than the others. He said he is not disrespecting the other great players but these two are class. So Shane Warne considers Virat Kohli as the best batsman in the world.

While former Australian skipper Ricky Ponting who is regarded as one of the greatest batsmen of all time believes that India captain Virat Kohli is currently the best batsman in the world only because Steve Smith is not there.

Steve Smith is serving a year-long ban for his role in ball tampering at a Cape Town Test. Along with Smith, David Warner is also serving a ban due to ball tampering.

As per Report Ruling party, BJP is in talks with both the Cricketers Gautam Gambhir and MS Dhoni to contest polls from their respective state in 2019 elections. Dhoni and Gambhir may likely contest from their respective states.

Another name which is being linked with the BJP is of former Indian captain and wicket-keeper-batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni. As per reports, BJP is in talks with Dhoni to contest polls from Jharkhand.

The BJP leader once said, “Both players have wide acceptability, respect, and credibility across the country and are regarded as leaders by all sections of society. They are not only leaders from their respective states but also leaders of the country. Dhoni is currently the captain of the Chennai Super Kings team playing at the IPL (Indian Premier League) and thus has reach and mass base even in the southern parts of India. Both these players joining the party will be an asset for us,”.

Gautam Gambhir had last played for India in November 2016. He is currently the captain of Delhi. He helped them to reach the final of the recently-concluded Vijay Hazare Trophy 2018.

Gambhir is yet to announce his retirement from competitive cricket and he may enter politics as he had popularity and massive fan following all over the nation.

As per a report, the BJP is likely to replace Meenakshi Lekhi, who is a Member of Parliament from Delhi with Gambhir.

The reason given by the senior BJP leader for replacing Lekhi was that the reports about Meenakshi Lekhi’s work are not good. People from her constituency are not happy with her work. So the BJP has decided that she will not be repeated this time as a candidate from New Delhi.

On the other hand, Gautam Gambhir had wide acceptability and is known for his social work. He is most likely to be the party’s candidate from the same seat. “ He is a Delhiite and will do his best for the people of Delhi,” a senior BJP leader quoted.

If you had read MS Dhoni biography or know about him, BJP would have the advantage over other parties if they convince MS Dhoni for the 2019 elections.
